Dog of the Week: Update – Kudjoe is Kicking Cancer’s Butt!

Happy Friday, peeps!  Kudjoe here.  I’m becoming a regular on Miss Grace’s blog.  But she can’t get enough of me and also wants to give everyone updates on how I’m kicking cancer’s butt!

My vet friends told my momma a couple weeks ago that I probably wouldn’t make it.  This made her very sad, and I was so sad, too!  And I didn’t want to give up.  This is how I felt about that.

But then, I started to feel a little better.  The vet people say that the chemo is working!  I started eating more (I really missed being hungry!) and I weigh 100 pounds again! Which I know sounds big, but I am a big boy.  I’ve started running around and playing, and even barking at the UPS man!

My momma says this is nothing short of a miracle.  And these other nice peoples gave my momma a grant to help pay for the rest of my chemo treatments!

Thank you for your support, prayers, and love.  My momma and I are very happy and are looking forward to a long life together.

Have a fun filled weekend with lots of snuggles, love, treats, and naps.

Update: Help Kudjoe Beat Cancer’s Butt!

Welcome back, animal lovers! I hope you all enjoyed your Superbowl weekend and made it to work on time, sans hangover, yesterday!

Today is a special post for a dear pup named Kudjoe.  I posted for Kudjoe on January 17th, but wanted to give everyone an update on this sweet boy!

On January 17th, the day of his big blog debut, Kudjoe had his spleen removed.  His vet found that lymphoma had manifested itself into this silly organ, which seems to be more a hindrance than a help, and thus, Kudjoe’s spleen went bye-bye.

His recovery wasn’t so easy, as he got an infection and had to be treated slowly so he could start his chemo treatments.

Kudjoe recovered from his infection and has now had TWO rounds of chemo.  He is feeling better than he was before his surgery, and even has some energy to bark at the UPS man!  But he has a long road ahead.

Resting Kudjoe

Kudjoe’s sweet aunty, Amanda, started a fundly collection for this sweet angel bear.  His mom is a teacher and full time grad student, and as we all know, vet bills are by no means cheap!  If you’d like to donate or even just send prayers, love, and support, visit Kudjoe’s very own fundly page.

The vets are hopeful that with continued treatment, Kudjoe may be able to beat this beast!  Let’s all says some special prayers for Kudjoe and his family, and also CHEER HIM ON!

You got this sweet boy, and we are all rooting for you!

Dog of the Week: Kudjoe – Help Me Beat Cancer’s Butt!

Hi!  My name is Kudjoe.  I’m a 4 year old mutt.

Kudjoe

My momma, Jen, found me on Craig’s list.  My other humans weren’t sure what to do with me so they decided to find me another home.

Believe it or not, I met my momma the first time in a Walmart parking lot.  It was puppy love at first sight and still is.

Happy Jen and Kudjoe

I was little then, but grew to be big, like a bear!  Bear – that’s my momma’s nickname for me.  Because I’m big and have a Bear face! I’m a sweet, silly boy, who likes to have fun.  Sometimes people call me goofy…I’m not sure what they mean, but I think it’s a compliment.

So…I think Miss Grace told me I should tell you all about the things I like to do.

I like to eat. A lot. Snacks, chips, pizza, anything really.  I love the Redskins.  They’re my favorite team, even though they didn’t do so good this season.  But, like I always say, there’s always hope!

Kudjoe the Redskins fan

I like to take long walks, chew on toys, and take naps with my momma in her bed.

I love the snow.  Kind of with….what’s that called…oh, a passion!  It’s one of my favorite things.

And one thing I don’t like at all: UPS trucks. I would be happy if a package was never delivered to any human ever again, just so I didn’t have to see or hear those, big, brown, loud, machines.  They make me bark. And sometimes, like my momma says, they make me go a little crazy.

Now for the serious stuff.  Last week, I wasn’t feeling so good.  I didn’t really want to eat, which is weird for me, because I want to eat all the time!  I was tired and throwing up and didn’t want to play.

My momma took me to the vet, and after they poked and prodded me for a while, they told my momma I had cancer.

The cancer is stage 2 T-Cell Lymphoma and is in my blood and my spleen.  I’m having surgery today.  They are taking out my whole spleen – did you know dogs could live without it? I didn’t either.  I still don’t even know what a spleen does, but they said I would feel a lot better once it was out.

After my surgery, I will have to take lots of medicines.  My momma is a kindergarten teacher and a full time grad student, so she doesn’t have lots of monies.  My aunt, Amanda, started a piggy bank thingy online for me.  If anybody wants to donate, I know my momma would like it.

Jen and Kudjoe

While I’ve been sick, the vet people told my momma to just feed me what I wanted.  So my momma has been giving me whatever I want!  I’ve had filet mignon and bacon a few times, and I don’t think I want to give that up when I get better!

Thank you for listening to my story.  And if you want to help me and my momma, click on the link and say some prayers for us.  Have a good weekend full of fun, playing, and snacks. Lots of snacks.

Love,

Kudjoe
